A great game of rugby against our local rivals
By Felicity Dunn
Visit from our sponsor Kitsons to present our new award "Kitsons spirit of Rugby".
Torquay U9’s had four tough games against local Riviera rivals Paignton today. Torquay showed some excellent team and individual performances today, fielding three new players in there line up. Working hard over the last few weeks in training Torquay were able to come away from today’s tough challenge as eventual winners.
Following the game, the coaching team was delighted to introduce Charlie Siegle of Kitsons solicitors to the players for them all to thank Kitsons for sponsoring and supplying this year’s playing kit and gum shields. Charlie was on hand to present our four match awards to the players – Man of the Match to Liam English, Outstanding Team Player to Balthasar Ebbutt, Tackler of the Day to Preston Beer, and the Kitsons Spirit of Rugby award to George Davies-Smith.
Coach Neil Wilson commented post-match that “all three debutants played extremely well, with Amos and Max making excellent runs, tackles and trys in the games as well. It was tough windy conditions today, but all the players from both sides really showed the values of rugby.’’
The U9’s were then able to have some photos with Charlie following the match and they would all like to thank him and Kitsons for kindly sponsoring the playing kit but also keep them safe by issuing them with mouth guards for the season.
We look forward to seeing you all again next Wednesday for training and next Sunday for our next game.
